CHARLES V. WELDEN, III – Director of Development





Chuck Welden holds a B.S. from the University of Alabama in Commerce and Business Administration, J.D. from George Washington University School of Law and LL.M in Taxation from New York University School of Law. After practicing law at the Birmingham law firm of Burr & Forman, Chuck joined WeldenField, a Birmingham based family real estate company. He has served as a member of the Young Executive Board of Directors of Compass Bank and currently serves on the Board of the Alabama Wildlife Federation and the National Christian Foundation of Alabama. At WeldenField, he focuses on both alternative investments and real estate opportunities which include both acquisition and development opportunities in multifamily, single family, hotel, active adult and land. Chuck and his wife, Lauren, reside in Birmingham, Alabama and have four children.



ROBERT C. FIELD – Director of Finance






Robert Field earned a B.S from the University of Alabama with a major in Accounting. He was a CPA in the Washington office of Arthur Andersen prior to returning to Alabama.



WILLIAM B. WELDEN Director, Property Management - SPM, LLC






Bill Welden currently serves as Managing Member of SPM, LLC which manages over 14,000 apartment units.  Additionally, Bill has served as an officer and on the Board of Directors of various multi-family housing associations.  Bill holds an Alabama real estate broker’s license and has been involved with the management of over 25,000 units of conventional, bond financed, tax credit, HUD, and Rural Development housing for families and elderly.  Before joining SPM in 1987, Bill earned a B.S. degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama and a Law Degree from the Cumberland School of Law.




W. EDGAR WELDEN, JR - Managing Member, Interactive Video Technologies, LLC (ION247)





Ed Welden currently serves as Managing Partner of Interactive Video Technologies, LLC.  Ed also serves as Manager of SPM, LLC and has been involved in the Section 202, PRAC, and Section 8 programs of HUD for over eighteen years.  Additionally, Ed has been involved in the refinancing and redevelopment of numerous 202 Properties through the use of bond financed, tax credit, and FHA financing.  Ed graduated from the University of Alabama in 1991 with a B.S. degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama. Ed joined SPM in 1992 and started Interactive Video Technologies, LLC in 2008.  Ed is also a licensed Real Estate Sales Person in the State of Alabama.  Ed has served as a member of the Young Executive Board of Directors of Compass Bank.  Ed has also served on the Board of Directors of Pathways Homeless Shelter and the Cultural Alliance of Jefferson County.  He is also a member of the President’s Cabinet of The University of Alabama.

RUSSELL D. BYLSMA Director of Hotel Operations, Southern Hospitality Services, LLC






With over 24 years of hospitality management experience, Russ Bylsma serves as President of Southern Hospitality Services, LLC. Managing multiple product types prior to joining WeldenField provided experience in successful repositioning of limited service, full service, resort and extended stay products.  Russ’ responsibilities with WeldenField encompass running SHS’ hotel management and development operations.  Russ graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management with a minor in Business.



STEVEN C. HYDINGER Managing Director, BREC Development, LLC




Steven earned a B.S. from the University of Alabama with a major in Finance and a minor in Spanish.  Mr Hydinger started BREC Development, LLC in 2004. Since that time, BREC has refinanced and renovated over 40 properties consisting of over 2,500 units, headed WF acquisitions and dispositions of conventional properties as well as new construction projects.

Mr Hydinger is a licensed Alabama real estate Broker and holds Certified Aging in Place (CAPS) designation. Currently, his primary focus is on multi-family acquisitions, new construction opportunities, and certain FHA refinance and governmental opportunities.




 BRIAN T. ROWE – Regional Partner, WeldenField of Virginia, LLC





Brian Rowe has been a strategic partner with WeldenField since 2003. As the Regional Partner for WeldenField of Virginia, Brian utilizes his 25 years of experience in land acquisition/development, finance, international investment, asset management, construction and project management. Brian directs all phases of site selection, land purchase, design, site improvements, infrastructure installation and the sale of residential/commercial development units and parcels. Mr. Rowe is a life-long resident of Hampton Roads and a Class-A general contractor who has built over 600 homes in Virginia ranging in price from $300,000 to $3,000,000. As the land acquisition and development consultant for D.R. Horton, Inc. in Virginia from 1994 to 1998, Mr. Rowe managed the acquisition of over $20,000,000 in property and developed over 1,000 homesites.  Brian maintains a high level of integrity in business with a solid reputation for spearheading growth and long-term value in all phases of business.




STEPHEN E. WINCH Regional Partner, Orchards Development, LLC



Steve Winch serves as the Regional Manager for WeldenField in Atlanta, primarily comprised of active adult developments under the brand name of the Orchards Group. Steve’s responsibilities include coordinating site acquisition, site and product planning, construction, sales and marketing, and customer relations functions for all properties. In addition to the Orchards, Steve manages several related companies focusing on remodeling, insurance restoration and construction, and residential re-sales. Mr. Winch also manages a portfolio of residential developments and land in the Hilton Head, SC and Savannah, GA submarkets.  Mr. Winch joined the Orchards Group after developing a number of master planned, mixed-use golf course communities in Atlanta, Georgia and South Florida for Terrabrook and Radnor Corporation. He holds a B.A. In Economics from Emory University and is a past or current member of the Urban Land Institute, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
