WeldenField acquires 29 Seven Apartments in Lakeview for $13.65M

A mixed-use development that helped drive the resurgence of the Lakeview area has sold to a local, family-owned real estate investment firm.

WeldenField acquired the 29 Seven building on Seventh Avenue South for $13.65 million, or more than $250,000 per unit. “We love the area. It’s a thriving, growing part of Birmingham,” said John Grady Welden of WeldenField Development LLC. “It’s next to the best restaurants and bars in town, St. Vincent’s and UAB.”

Built in 2012, the 29 Seven mixed-use development was one of the first signs of a commercial construction rebound and found success in residential and retail leasing.

25 FOR RESEARCH: CHERYL MORTON

WeldenField’s Cheryl Morton’s breast cancer story didn’t start with her own diagnosis. It started with her mother’s.

Cheryl Morton at ReceptionWhen she was a junior in high school, her then-45-year-old mother discovered she had breast cancer. At 17, Cheryl found herself taking on the role of caretaker, assisting with her mother’s needs at home and driving her to medical appointments. After a year of intensive treatment, her mother passed away from the disease.

A little over 10 years later, she found herself in the same position. This time, however, Morton’s daughter was only six months old.

“The initial diagnosis…I was in a lot of shock,” said Morton. “You hear it and you don’t hear it. I thought, ‘am I going to have to go through the same thing as my mom?’”

Thankful Residents Share Why They Love Living at Orchards of Sweet Apple

After reading the frightful articles about Assisted Living and Nursing Homes in the newspaper recently, it made Wilson and I realize how thankful we are to have found our “retirement” home here in Sweet Apple.

We are so grateful for the Architect at the Orchards who thought long and hard about the features of our home. One story, a spare bedroom for guests, one bathroom for a handicapped individual, a spacious Master bedroom, lovely Den, a convenient kitchen and an inviting Family Room complete with fireplace. One important feature that we needed was a long wall in the Family Room that would accommodate our large TV!  We have that too! The gorgeous Sun Room is an extra bonus!

These beautiful surroundings and “carefree” maintenance of the exterior, along with being close to family, have made our move to Roswell seem Providential. We look forward to the future with confidence that we WILL be able to remain in our own WONDERFUL home!

With Thankful hearts,
Wilson & Elaine
